The Gambia will host the third Pan-African Youth Commission Assembly meeting on African unity and development from 23 to 26 March, at Kairaba Beach Hotel. The Gambia National Youth Council (NYC) in partnership with the government and other partners will spearhead the biggest African youth convergence.
Chairman of the National Youth Council, Dembo Kambi said they have been preparing to host the meeting since last November, saying that they have signed a memorandum of understanding with the African Commission.
Mr. Kambi said they are partnering with a host of other agencies in the development of young people, including The Gambia government’s political commitments through the ministry of youth and sport.
He said the ministry has assured to support the hosting of the event. “Local authorities like the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) have also assured that they will give their support towards the successful hosting of the event. “We want to ensure that the entire Gambian people, particularly youth are well updated on our level of preparation and the future plans ahead of the meeting.”
Kawsu Sillah, executive secretary of African Youth Commission said they are pleased to host this year’s Pan-African Youth Commission meeting and they want it to be a memorable event for the youth, saying they will be hosting more than 350 youths around the African continent.
